<div id="navigatie" name="navigatie"> <ul> <li><a href="/">Home</a></li> <li><a href="/Muziek-Nieuws">Nieuws</a></li> <li><a href="/Nederlandse-Artiesten/">Artiesten</a></li> </ul> </div>   <div id="biografie" name="biografie Ruth Jacott"> <img alt="Ruth Jacott" src="/system/images/562/original/Ruth_Jacott_-_persfoto.jpg?1246973375" title="Ruth Jacott" /> <h1>Ruth Jacott</h1> <p><a name="Deel 1"></a>Ruth Jacott (Paramaribo, 2 september 1960) is een Nederlands zangeres, die werd geboren in Suriname. <br /><br />Jacott verhuist op negenjarige leeftijd met haar familie naar Nederland, alwaar ze op zeventienjarige leeftijd meedoet aan een talentenjacht, waar ze veel aanbiedingen aan overhoudt. Ze stopt met haar studie aan het Hilversumse conservatorium en begint haar loopbaan bij The Vips en orkesten als The Skymasters, het VARA-Dansorkest en het Metropole Orkest.</p> <p>In 1988 wint Jacott het Knokke Festival in België. Na dit succes krijgt ze veel werk in de musicalwereld: ze krijgt belangrijke rollen in de Nederlandse producties Cats en A Night At The Cotton Club.</p> <p>In 1993 neemt haar carrière een belangrijke wending als ze gevraagd wordt om Nederland te vertegenwoordigen tijdens het Eurovisie Songfestival in Ierland. Ze belandt uiteindelijk met 92 punten op plek zes in de ranglijst, met het lied Vrede. Haar Nederlandstalige debuutalbum Ruth Jacott verschijnt kort daarna.</p> <p><a name="Deel 2"></a>In het theaterseizoen 2005/2006 staat Ruth met haar theatershow "A touch of Latin" in de Nederlandse theaters. In deze show komt zowel Spaans als haar Nederlandse repertoire aan bod, soms in een nieuw latin-jasje gestoken. Wegens het grote succes wordt deze tour in het seizoen 2006/2007 vervolgd. In december 2008 staat Ruth Jacott op de planken met haar eigen kerstshow, die zeer goed ontvangen wordt door het publiek en de pers.</p> <p><br />Op 23 maart 2009 komt de single 'Jammer, maar helaas uit' van haar nieuwe latinalbum Passie dat 20 april 2009 verschijnt. Passie is een dubbel CD met op CD1 de originele versies en CD2 de Nederlandse bewerkingen daarvan.
